This evening's opening presentation of the History Center's 2009-2010 lecture series, "Florida Cowboys: Keepers of the Last Frontier," was exceptional. Approximately 200 attendees enjoyed the informal talk delivered by Carlton Ward, Jr. Mr. Ward, an environmental photojournalist from Clearwater, provided photographs and words extolling the beauty of the undeveloped Florida. Stating that Florida is not "just Disney World and South Beach" Mr. Ward proved his point with beautifully crafted pictures of Florida wildlife, landscape, and families which continue to work the land.
